ClassConn sponsors the Connecticut State Latin Contest every year in April. You can download this year’s registration form here.

Along with certificates of achievement, the SLC awards two plaques:

The Thomas A. Suits Award is presented to the students who achieve the highest score in Advanced Poetry.

Professor Suits was a long-time member of the Classics Department of the University of Connecticut. He was an active member of the Classical Association of Connecticut as well as the Classical Association of New England. His service and dedication to the classics was manifested in his service to the teachers and students in this state.

The Vincent J. Rosivach Award is presented to the students who achieve the highest score in Advanced Prose.

Professor Rosivach served on the faculty of Fairfield University for fifty three years. He was the longest serving professor in the history of the university. Throughout his career, Professor Rosivach was an active member of ClassConn. After the retirement of Ken Schwartz the future for the Connecticut State Latin Contest was uncertain. Rather than see the contest end, Professor Rosivach came up with a plan to keep the contest alive. It was through his efforts that the Connecticut State Latin Contest is still a part of classics in Connecticut. For this he is deserving of our thanks.
