Attendees wearing the theme with pride!
All attendees are required to wear ancient Roman or Greek dress so there were an abundance of togae, tunicae, stolae, gladiatores, mythological figures, and more. The organizing committee worked all year to put together this large event celebrating ancient Roman and Greek language and culture. Throughout the day students participated in many different workshops and presentations, project displays, academic contests, athletic events and the annual chariot race. The weather gods were very favorable to us which was an additional bonus!
There were many individual and team/school accomplishments and prizes. Bristol Central High School won the prestigious Nancy Lister Summa Cum Virtute -Best in Spirit Award. This is the third consecutive win for Bristol Central, as they won top prizes in the chariot race, costume contest, and chariot design. Trumbull High School won the special Bill Mayer Best in Show Award for their outstanding performance in number of entries and awards in Display Projects this year.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a great success, especially the committee members Cristina Corona (certamen), Julia Fedoryk (projects), Sarah Freschette (workshops), Paul Giblin (academic contests), Dylan O'Connor (costumes and certamen),and the co-chairs Drew Warchut and Arlette de Koning.
